Why use eBay
What is it that attracts over 10 million visitors to eBay each and every day, from over 30 countries worldwide? Well there are many possible reasons, and I’m sure that the set of reasons differs between individuals; but the statistics speak for themselves. In our consumer-driven society, people are after new and exciting products- but they don’t want to pay over the odds for them. This is particularly true in the current economic climate; people are struggling to afford the essentials, let alone anything extra.
For centuries keen bargain hunters have attended auctions in search of either mundane or rare and exotic items at a price they can afford, with the item going to the highest bidder. eBay is very much the modern day online equivalent of an absolutely gargantuan auction; hosting internet auctions across the globe for… well… everything! One of the official eBay slogans “What ever it is, you can get it on eBay” really encapsulates the vast array of products auctioned on eBay. Whether you’re after something in particular or are just after inspiration, the truly phenomenal range and sheer quantity of items available internationally on eBay means that you really can’t miss a bargain.
Some truly unique products can be bid for or bought on eBay, and may attract an enormous number of bids to reflect this; so it can become quite competitive. On the other hand, you will find countless people hosting internet auctions for items which are also available from other sellers. This vastly reduces the bidding competition; meaning that you may, in fact, be a unique or one of few bidders for an item and will obtain a true bargain. There are also many “buy it now” items available on eBay, alongside the usual internet auctions. Some items may attract bids, but can be bought outright for a given price (if the seller specifies a buy it now price) - so if an item does become too competitive or you want it as soon as possible, you can simply buy it directly. This method of direct purchase is the preferred choice for cheaper items such as food and cosmetics, but is often included as an additional option for more expensive items. Whether an item on eBay is won internet auction style or bought via “buy it now”, buyers can be reassured by positive seller feedback and the buyer protection offered by using PayPal as a payment method.
